Faculty Academy 2012

Constructing the Information Age

Presenters: Jeffrey McClurken Kyle Allwine

About a month before my History of the Information Age senior Seminar began, I sent the students a broad framework and a list of potential topics for a seminar class.  I told them that they were going to help me construct the class and between that time and the 2nd week of classes, we brainstormed topics, readings, and various digital and text-based assignments, creating a semester plan together.  This presentation will explore the experience from the perspective of the instructor and of the students, and will discuss resulting assignments as well as key lessons learned about the process.
